Welcome to Interlake High School's Community Service Page

All Interlake High School (IHS) students are required through Bellevue School District (BSD) to perform 40 hours of community service in order to graduate. For students who are interested in completing additional community service hours during their high school years, the IHS PTSA is proud to offer community service awards. This optional community service awards program is called the Saints Community Connections (SCC). To clarify the differences between these programs, a comparison of the required BSD program and the optional SCC program is illustrated in the Community Service Programs chart. The details concerning the SCC program are included in the SCC Community Service Guidelines. All of this information can be found in the September edition of the Paw Prints, in the IHS Counseling Center, and on both the PTSA website www.interlakeptsa.org and the IHS website www.bsd405.org/ihs/. The Volunteer Opportunities table in the Counseling Center is an excellent resource for finding places to do community service. It is updated regularly with new ideas so please stop by often to check it out. Some Volunteer Opportunities are also posted on the websites listed above.

Although the PTSA awarded students for community service in the past, a few changes were made last year to the program as follows:

·        Please note that a new Community Service Record form has been created to record all future volunteer hours. You can find these forms in the Counseling Center or on-line.

·        The required hours for the BSD program do not automatically count toward the optional SCC program. If you want the same hours to count for both programs, both the SCC form and the BSD form must be completed. It is necessary to submit both forms when the hours are counted in both places. NOTE: The SCC program will no longer accept BSD forms.

·        Total hours are now posted by student ID number and graduating class on the Community Service bulletin board in the Counseling Center. Please stop by to check your totals with ours.

·        There is now a SCC box in the Counseling Center where students can drop off their completed Community Service Record forms at their convenience. Please don’t delay in turning them in for credit.

I hope these changes make your community service experience more enjoyable. I look forward to working with you. Congratulations on your achievements.
