SNOWRIDERS 2008-2009

The Newport Snowriders Club saw incredible growth during the ’07-’08 school year. With various speakers, trips to the mountain, quality t-shirts and hard work from staff, the program came into its own. While still not fully recognized by the Bellevue School District, Snowriders has a good foundation to build on with the plans for this upcoming school year laid out and underway. It comes down to one thing: What the club members decide to put it, they will get out."Snowriders" is a winter sports club at Newport High School. We meet Thursdays every week, and the meetings usually consist of watching, movies/videos, discussions of weekend plans, or planning future events and volunteer activities.Guest speakers have been added this year to teach our young riders the basics of avalanche safety, film making, and community service through Burton's Chill Program. With the help of Jason Benda,Ed Rubio,Ryan Simpson, and Carver Marshall, "Snowriders" has been improved greatly since its creation in 2004.
